Local Condiments for Local People

We love being based in Perth. The choice and variety of produce here is incredible, and it's the foundation of everything we make at The Mulberry Pig.

Where Our Produce Comes From

The Perth Hills and the Roleystone area are perfect for stone fruit, pears, apples and citrus. The Peel region grows amazing onions and cucumbers, and just past Wanneroo you'll find some of the best strawberries, chillies, tomatoes and veg around.

So the decision to use local produce was a no-brainer. Our warm climate and all that sunshine produces some of the sweetest fruit we've ever tasted, which lets us cut down on added sugar — a nice little bonus for a small batch condiment maker.

From Farm Gate to Wholesale Market

We love a trip out to the farms when we can. Otherwise, our early Monday morning trips to the wholesale market in Canning Vale fill the gaps, and getting to choose the best and freshest possible produce is such a privilege. The 5am starts are sometimes hard, but the produce always makes it worthwhile.

Our 100%  Fresh Australian Promise

Now, we'd be lying if we said all our produce is from WA. But we can definitely say 100% of our Fresh ingredients are from Australia — whether it's berries for jam from Tassie or garlic from Queensland, you really can't beat the quality this country produces.

Why Not 100% Aussie on the label?

Why only 99% Aussie, we hear you shout. Well, we did try to find Australian-grown spices, but all we could find were peppercorns — and our chutneys, relishes, pickles and sauces would just not be the same without the many spices we use.

Small Batch, Big Aussie Flavour

We'll source Aussie produce till the cows come home, and we think — just maybe — you can definitely taste the difference.

So here's to supporting local, and thanks for supporting our small batch, local business.
