Apple & Thyme Butter
Questions & answers
What is apple butter?
No dairy here. Apple butter is a smooth, slow-cooked apple spread. Ours is made with Granny Smith apples and scrumpy cider, with nutmeg, cinnamon and thyme.
Can I use it instead of quince paste?
Yes, that's exactly what we made it for. It's silky, with big apple flavour, and brilliant with stilton, gorgonzola or a mature sharp cheddar.
What else can I use it for?
Spread it into a ham and cheese toastie or serve it with roast pork. It's also the star of our bircher muesli and apple crumble slice recipes.
Is it vegan and gluten-free?
Yes, and it's made without preservatives.
How long does it keep?
Unopened, keep it in a cool, dark cupboard and check the best-before date. Once opened, keep it in the fridge and use it within 2 months.
